Body Contouring

Body contouring is done for the patient who has loose, hanging skin usually due to weight loss and decreased skin elasticity. Total body contouring will usually involve mastopexy (breast lift), abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), lower body lift, thigh lift, and liposuction. Only by removing the excess skin can we reshape and restore a more natural body contour.

Liposuction

For liposuction or “lipoplasty”, the best candidates are patients who are in shape but have localized fat deposits that often won’t respond to diet and exercise.

Liposuction is done through a small stab wound incision. Tumescent fluid is infiltrated into the tissue to help facilitate fat out of the body. A suction cannula is then inserted and passed back and forth in a fan-like motion to help evenly remove fatty deposits. The patient will be placed in a compression garment for 4-6 weeks postoperatively.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

An abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck” is done for patients who have excess skin and/or a protuberant abdomen. An incision is made from hip to hip which allows tissue to be elevated and the underlying muscles tightened. By tightening the rectus muscles, the appearance of the belly can be flattened. The belly button will have an incision around it, as it will need to be repositioned when the excess tissue is pulled down and excised.

Post-Bariatric Procedures

There is an obesity crisis in America.  The nations’ scales are climbing up and up.  Obesity in this country is at an all time high and still rising.

With increasing numbers, obese and morbidly obese people are seeking bariatric surgery as a permanent weight loss solution.  When large amounts of weight are lost, one of the unavoidable problems is excessive skin laxity.  This skin does not respond to exercise.  While some areas seem to firm up better than others, excessive quantities of patulous skin always remain on the abdomen, arms, back, breasts, buttocks, face, thighs and trunk of the body.

Surgically, this excess skin can be removed and the underlying contours reshaped.  Although, permanent scars remain, patients love the new found mobility and better body shape following surgery.

These procedures include:

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty), Panniculectomy, Liposuction, Thigh Lift, Full Body Lift, Arm Lift (Brachioplasty), Breast Lift (Mastopexy) with or without implants, Facelift
